Indian Army Set to receive 3 Apache Helicopters In Jodhpur Today, Induction likely By 22 July

According to News18, the Indian Army will receive the first batch of Apache Helicopters from the United States on June 21.

These Advanced attack helicopters will be deployed near the Pakistan border, reports NDTV.  India will receive a total of Six Apache  AH-64E from the US and the Indian Army has already formed a squadron in Jodhpur.

Why Do These Advanced Helicopters Matter To India?

The AH-64E Apache is considered to be the most powerful and advanced attack helicopter in the world, These helicopters are capable of conducting lethal strikes in hostile war zones. Developed by Defence company Boeing, these attack helicopters are used by countries like the U.S, UK, Egypt, Israel and now India.

India first bought 22 Apache helicopters for its Air Force under a 2015 pact. The Defence ministry of India approved a contract worth $600 Million for purchase of 6 more apaches for its army. With this acquisition the Indian army will have advanced air capabilities that will improve the coordination with the ground troops in high Intensity conflict zones.

These helicopters are equipped with cutting edge technology like advanced navigation, communication system, sensors and lethal weapons.

Apache helicopters include a Modern Upgraded Targeting System that will support the pilots to identify the targets in both day and night, Specially in the low and poor visibility. 

It is also included with 30 MM chain gun and precision guided hellfire missiles, lasers and rocket pods that are capable of executing multiple strikes simultaneously. Apache helicopters are also equipped with the Longbow radar above the rotor which allows it to track threats without exposing its position.
